An IYC Fundraising Effort

Dear Church Family!

Blessings.  I trust this short note finds you well.

As you know, our students’ next fundraiser is this Saturday, May 15th!  As a valued supporter of student ministries, you are cordially invited to attend a DINNER & DESSERT AUCTION.  Please come and share a delicious meal with our students and enjoy an evening bidding on our church’s most decadent desserts!

Here are the details you need to know to help make this a successful event.

Event: Dinner & Dessert Auction (In addition to the dessert auction, donations will be taken for dinner.  In the past it has been suggested individuals donate $5.00 and families donate $20.00.  Whatever you are able to give, whether less or more, please come and spend an evening supporting our teenagers.

Where: North Cascades Christian Fellowship

Date: Saturday, May 15th

Time: 6:00 p.m.

How Can You Help?

1. Attend and give generously!
2. Make a dessert to be auctioned.
3. Donate spaghetti noodles and pasta sauce.  Donations will be accepted through Friday, May 14th.

What’s in a Name

After much prayer and consideration the decision has been made to change our name. Over the next few months we will begin to phase in our new name “North Cascades Christian Fellowship”. The decision was based on several factors. 1.) We wanted a name that ties us to our community. 2.) We wanted to bring our child care center and the church under the same name. 3.) We wanted to be able to improve our presence on the web.

There will be more about this in the coming weeks.

Family Movie Night “TONIGHT”

Come and join us on Friday February 12^th for our monthly family movie night. This month we’re watching “The Love Bug”! The doors open at 6:45, and the movie starts at 7pm. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

Baby Shower

Please join us for the celebration of Tim and Amy Rhule’s baby GIRL (due in May). The shower will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 2pm at Norma Trueman’s house. Please call Norma if you need directions (826-3672). Tim and Amy are registered at Target.

Preschool Science Night

Please come to science night on Tuesday, February 23^rd from 6-8pm with your preschoolers (ages 3-5) for a free, fun-filled night of science hosted by the North Cascades Child Development Center! Learn fun games that will help prepare your preschooler for kindergarten! Take home games to play again and again! There will also be snacks and door prizes.

*Student Ministries is currently raising funds for World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine.  This year donations are being directed to help the relief and rebuilding effort in Haiti.  February 19^th and 20^th students will be fasting to raise awareness about global poverty and hunger-related issues.  Please find the boxes labeled “30-Hour Famine” outside of the sanctuary and generously donate your financial gift to this pressing cause.

Final Thought

In all things, God is good. He holds us in the palm of His hand. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of Christ. So rest in the assurance of Jesus today because no matter what is happening around you, God is still there. In that fact we have great hope!

Pregnancy Choices Tea and Quilt Auction

Saturday, February 6^th is the annual tea and quilt auction to support Pregnancy Choices. The preview of the quilts and other items up for auction begins at 9:30am, and the auction begins at 10am. If you have questions, please contact Marnie Fox at 826-4911.

Final Thought

Jesus did not call us to live but to die: die to self, die to sin, die to the things that hold us back from all that God wants us to be. His call was to pick up our cross and follow Him. Jesus has called to die so that He might live through us! “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. ” (1 Peter 2:24, ESV) What is that Christ is calling you to die to this week?

Final Thought
Friends, the tragedy in Haiti once again has reminded me of the fragility of life. Tomorrow holds no guarantees. Today is the day of salvation! Engage the culture, engage life… don’t put off until tomorrow what needs to be done today. Please, pray for the Church in Haiti!
