February Prayer Focus

Abiding In The Love Of God

February 6 – 12

Scripture Reading: Psalm 46:10

Classic Reflection: O Lord, you have to catch me on the run most of the time.  I am too busy to stop, too important to pause for contemplation.  I hold up too big a section of the sky to sit down and meditate.  But even on the run, an occasional flicker of doubt assails me, and I suspect I may not be as important to the world as I think I am.

Prayer Focus: Being Still Long Enough To Be Loved

  • Ask the Lord to help you quiet your thoughts and activities; pray to receive rest
  • Pray to receive the peace of Jesus
  • When you have been stilled, seek the presence of God that you may know the fullness of his love

Ministry Focus: Pray for Pastor Phil & Darlene Brooks and their ministry of counseling and comfort

February 13 – 19

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 3:14-21

Classic Reflection: Today, O Lord, I yield myself to you.  May your will be my delight today.  May your way have perfect sway in me.  May your love be the pattern of my living.  I surrender to you my hopes, my dreams, my ambitions.  Do with them what you will, when you will, as you will.  I place into your loving care my family, my friends, my future.  Care for them with a care that I can never give.  I release into your hands my need to control, my craving for status, my fear of obscurity.  Eradicate the evil, purify the good, and establish your kingdom on earth.  For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

Prayer Focus: The Love Of Christ

  • Ask for your life to be rooted and grounded in love
  • Pray that you may comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ’s love
  • Ask that you may know the love of Christ which surpasses all knowledge

Ministry Focus: Pray for healthy and strong marriages

February 20 – 26

Scripture Reading: Psalm 1; Hosea 10:12

Classic Reflection: Spirit of the Living God, be the Gardener of my soul.  For so long I have been waiting, silent and still – experiencing a winter of the soul.  But now, in the strong name of Jesus, I dare to ask: clear away the dead growth of the past, break up the hard clods of custom and routine, stir in the rich compost of vision and challenge, bury deep in my soul the implanted Word, cultivate and water and tend my heart, until new life buds and opens and flowers.  Amen.  (Richard Foster)

Prayer Focus: New Life In The Love Of Christ

  • Pray to become like the tree described in Psalm 1:3, “planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither”
  • Ask that the Holy Spirit would help you sow seeds of righteousness
  • Pray that you would reap a harvest of love
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to help you break up fallow ground in your life

Ministry Focus: Pray that new believers in Jesus would be planted deeply in the Word and that mature believers would continue to grow in the Word
